It’s that time of year again, when gift-giving season beckons and rainy weather keeps us indoors — a perfect time, in other words, for a great board game. So we gathered up a small army of teens and college kids, whipped out the dice and timers and put them to work testing the latest batch, with some unexpected results.

Who knew that playing epidemiologist or mob boss could be so much fun, or that trivia had become so ho-hum?
